Part of Florida’s Public Safety Community

Part of Florida's Communities

At Motorola, Florida isn't just another state – it's home. As a corporate citizen of Florida since 1969, many of us are driven by our connection to the community. Our kids attend Florida schools; we board up our windows during hurricane season, and we rely on local law enforcement.

These ties are part of Motorola's corporate dedication to the state as well. Every year, we provide grants to multiple organizations, benefitting both education and public safety.

Employment and Community Support

Building on a rich, 87-year history, we have maintained a strong presence in both government and commercial markets for many years, creating jobs across the state.

Galvin Masters Team

Volunteers of America of Florida (Miami, Fla.)
Approximately 60 members of the Galvin Masters Professional Sales Organization helped rejuvenate a veterans training and education building in Miami, Fla. Motorola Solutions employees worked to improve the two-story building by painting the interior and exterior, landscaping, improving flooring and more.

Since 2007, these contributions have supported 80 different Florida organizations, including:

  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County

For support of a hands‐on, after-school STEM program exploring beginning robotics for 90 disadvantaged youth in Broward County

  • The Children's Museum, Inc.

To engage 25 ethnically diverse girls (ages 11-14) at a Boca Raton after-school club that will provide a series of evidence-based structured STEM activities and challenges

  • Plantation High School

To provide engineering programming to 150 elementary, middle and high school students and create a kindergarten through twelfth-grade curricular STEM pipeline in the Plantation High School feeder district

  • University of Florida Career Resource Center

For a campaign providing professional development, networking opportunities and exposure to industry professionals for declared STEM, undecided or exploratory sciences majors at University of Florida with employer engagement and mentoring programs specifically focused on women and underrepresented minorities

  • University of South Florida Foundation, Inc

For a STEM mentoring program for 48 rising fifth and sixth graders transitioning into an ongoing STEM pipeline at Bartels Middle School and employing 12 black or Hispanic engineering student mentors and a curriculum targeted at underrepresented youth in Tampa, Florida

  • Western High School Grant

To support a Davie, Florida after-school STEM program serving 150 underrepresented students; provide a professional development institute for STEM teachers; and a STEM engineering-research class

Involvement

One of the best representations of Motorola's relationship with Florida is our ongoing work with the American Red Cross. From delivering hot meals after natural disasters to providing shelter when there's nowhere else to turn, our corporate sponsorship of this organization has allowed us to donate both time and money to citizens of Florida in need.

In 2014, Motorola employees teamed up with Red Cross volunteers to go door-to-door throughout Broward County checking and installing fire alarms in an effort to reduce home fire deaths and injuries.

In addition, volunteers annually spend Global Service Day dedicating their time to organizations and projects across Florida, such as:

  • Whispering Oaks Group Home Beautification Project
  • Hugh Taylor Birch Park clean up
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Salvation Army food and clothing drive
  • Markham Park Nature Trail restoration
