The Drop Test
Back to DropThe Method:
Using the same test set-up as the U.S. military does for its equipment (MIL 810G) Method 516.5), each battery is attached to a Motorola radio and dropped from 1.2m onto concrete. Each radio was dropped a total of 42 times (seven cycles of six drops).
A cycle consists of
- 1 drop on the front
- 1 drop on the back
- 1 drop on the left side
- 1 drop on the right side
- 1 drop on the top
- 1 drop on the bottom
The Inspection:
Each battery is inspected and failed if they experienced the following problems:
- Cracking or splitting open
- Damage to the connection with the radio
- Inability to charge
